Changelog - Thoughts?[]

I spend a little time today to start a Changelog table, as I think this would be a nice addition to the pages. If others think the same about it, I'll do this for other pages, too. Just want to get some feedback first, if the community wants this or not. Thought would be better starting it early, than having loads of patches to go through. there already are quite a few notes to go through already (That's why I picked this page, loads of patches, but easy to search for). So... thoughts? --Amkorra (talk) 12:13, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

IllegalOpCode and I had a brief discussion about this as well on my talk page. It sounds like a great idea. The game is constantly changing, and having the ability to see how each item has changed over time would be very interesting --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 18:22, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
A great idea indeed! With the amount of changes the game is getting, however, I think we should organize the changes on a Changes subpage and only include major changes on the page itself. I'm thinking that most of this can be made to work without too much effort using a couple of simple templates. Regarding the format, I think a table is too much. A simple list with a subsection for each patch and a bullet for each change is all that is really needed, I think. -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 18:31, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
Some of them could get pretty big pretty fast if we left the on the original page. We could make a changes subpage OR this might be a good use for the Collapsibles that SharpShot gif was working on. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 18:39, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
The problem with collapsibles is that the content is still loaded, which potentially wastes bandwidth--especially for mobile users. -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 20:28, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
I see. Let's go with what you said then; a subpage for all the updates and only major updates on the normal page. Although I do disagree with you on the table, I think this looks much nicer than a standard bulleted list. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 02:46, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Before I worked in the Log I had a look at other gamepedias. Found changelogs in the minecraft gamepedia and in the wowpedia, both very cluttered. WoWpedia was horrible to look at to be honest. They had just a bulleted list, and that gets very hard to read. Example at WoWpedia: http://wow.fandom.com/wiki/Hunter#Patch_changes
A table will always look better than this. Also at the current length, I don't think we will need a separate page for every changelog. Maybe adding a top row with latest change, 9 points following and if it's bigger than 10 in total we can add the subpage if needed? (just throwing some numbers here) Only major changes sounds to me as if we have like 2 big changes and one small one we need a subpage. --Amkorra (talk) 11:33, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Solid points all around, I agree. -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 14:18, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Do dinos besides the ovaraptor eat eggs? If so, is it willing or must it be force fed, and will it hurt them? If feedable, do eggs provide a good or meager hunger saturation to dinos/creatures?

SavannaDrag (talk) 04:10, 20 February 2016 (UTC)

At the current rate, having 11 dilos that are mate boosted and egg boosted, they should drop at least one egg every minute. However, it seems that the actual rate is about one egg every eleven minutes, which means the posted drop rate is off by a factor of ten.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.230.100.14 (talkcontribs) at 19:23, 11 June 2018 (UTC). I'm relatively certain that the information once provided by Jen on this topic is woefully outdated. The egg difference between mate boosted egg laying and un mate boosted egg laying appears to be something closer to a factor of 15 or 20, not 2. Un mate boosted dinos appear to have an almost negligible egg drop rate. I use the S+ collector to collect eggs, to make sure none are missed and can factually state that 3 pteranodons dropped 3 eggs in the same period of time that it took one mate boosted trike to drop more than 40. This has been consistent with what I viewed when I was playing during early access and has continued on to the modded server I'm now running.Darinth (talk) 23:16, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

Switching to Creature eggs/Eggs?[]

I would switch the page to Creature eggs or Eggs because not only Dinosaurs lay eggs in Ark. The Araneo is a good example. Does anyone else think so? Schneckenfan1 (talk) 12:27, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

I plan to change it to Eggs soon. The Wayward Wolf (talk) 13:23, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Seems like some eggs are out of place, or with conflicting info... like the Spino egg showing up at 2 categories aswell as the Tropeognathus, where both show the image in LARGE and their name in Extra Large.

What does "has a chance to drop eggs" mean?[]

What is the chance? 75%? 10%? This makes all the difference in the world... Is it the same for all dino types besides dodos? I have waited for well over an hour and had no eggs dropped with multiple mate boosted dinos...
