Impossible to edit?[]

At the "torpor-depletion: x /seconds", you can hover your mouse over to see how many narcotics, narcoberries and so on are approximately drained. The problem is, on the Giganotosaurus' page, it is preposterously wrong on all levels. For instance, the level 1 drains 120 torpor a second, which is certainly NOT a narcoberry every 3 seconds, or a narcotic every 5.3 seconds. But I can't seem to find where to edit it or correct it. Could someone with more knowledge than me or better access please fix this little issue? Thanks a lot. Thisismypassword oops (talk) 02:16, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi, the values are correct. Feeding a narcoberry will make the torpor raise for 3 seconds to the new value, i.e. for 3 seconds the torpor will not decrease. This is why it is more efficient to feed narcoberries instead of narcotics to creatures with a fast torpor-dropping-rate.--Cadaeib (talk) 19:56, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Spawn Locations changed[]

The Spawn points were reduced on the center recently, shall I change these on the map? Bongo2k (talk) 04:01, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

You don't need permission to add or change content in a wiki. Just do it. --Flachdachs (talk) 07:02, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
I've edited the spawn regions, source is here: https://twitter.com/evilmrfrank/status/822568500468314112 Bongo2k (talk) 08:02, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
It's good that you provide the source of your knowledge, because this massive change looks like a malicious edit. --Flachdachs (talk) 09:38, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

Please stop changing the Spawn Locations, they were heavily nerfed/changed in a Recent Patch and EvilMrFrank(the creator of the map...) confirmed it above.

Damage[]

Why is the base damage listed as 1200? I've not seen any patch notes that denote an increase to their damage. As far as I am aware their base damage is either 540 or 600...nowhere near 1200... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.73.21.85 (talkcontribs) at 07:14, 18 October 2016 (UTC). Hi, the 1200 for the base-damage is correct. Remember that a freshly tamed level 1 Giganoto has only 20% of that (i.e. 240 as absolute number).--Cadaeib (talk) 15:18, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

I'm not disputing their tamed damage, I'm dispting their base damage. The wild versions have had quite a few nerfs since it was 1200 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.73.22.56 (talkcontribs) at 11:49, 9 December 2016 (UTC)‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Hi, the 1200 Base Damage value is extracted from the PC game files. As of today, this value is still correct for both Giga's attacks: Bite and Gnash. Skylord1496 (talk) 10:49, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

So the 50% damage nerf to wild Gigas a while back didn't apply huh?... 79.73.22.56 14:42, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

Taming notes[]

lv8 took 124 tranq arrows from 143.3% weapon damage xbow. torpor decay was aprox. 4k per 28sec. Stats pretame: 300.150 HP, 400.2 Stamina, 150 oxygen, 4010 Food, 700 weight, 110% melee, 100 Speed, 14.200 torpor. Post-tame stats: 115.300 HP, 400.2 Stamina, 150.4 oxygen, 4010 food, 700 weight, 85% melee, 100 speed, 14.600 torpor. Efficiency was +2 levels, appear to have went into oxygen and torpor. Melee increase per level up is 4% melee, stamina 4%, 300 HP, 0.4 speed. Official pve server 117. Taming time aprox 1h10m. about 1600 narcotics, mostly raw prime/cooked prime.

Add global rarity?[]

So since we now have a nice global rarity option, do people think that the Giganotosaurus is rare enough to merit a rare tag? In my experience it is very rare. --Alex42000 (talk) 23:52, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

I personally haven't played much since its release aside from wiki-related testing. But with stats like those, I would certainly hope it's rare.

Alpha Giganoto[]

How badass would it be if they implement a Alpha Giganotosaurus for an event or something (Like uniting all tribes on the map to take that beast down.) I'm thinking of creating a discussion on the steam page, but I'd like to know you guys's opinion before I post it :)

FissaElectro (talk) 15:16, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

This isn't the place to discuss ideas for the game. The wiki is meant for information about Ark and the creatures, items, locations, etc. found in game. And the devs don't run the wiki, either. If you want to suggest something for the games, I really suggest you do it on the steam forums or official Reddit instead of here. c: «Elegant Excalibur» (talk) 21:22, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
Fissa has been here a while, I'm sure he knows all of this. But yeah, the discussion page is technically not the place for suggestions about game improvements. (on a side note, I would recommend Reddit - much nicer community there, I haven't been told to kill myself once)

Like I said, "I'm thinking of creating a discussion on the steam page, but I'd like to know you guys's opinion before I post it :)" I would like to know the opinion of you guys, before I get start expanding my ideas and put time into it.

Taming Information inccorect?[]

me and a friend tried to tame one a while ago. on here the wiki says it will take 78 tranq darts to knock it out. we found that not to be the case. we didn't manage to knock it out even though we shot 200+ tranq darts, 200+ tranq arrows into it. 80% of the shots where headshots for the extra damage multiplier. this was on a server with normal dino stats.

When I tried to knock a level 50 one out I needed around 100 arrows with a crossbow (~150% damage). That number sounded correct, regarding some headshots etc. What level was your Giganoto? Maybe the devs changed the torpor-stats of the dino, we will see when the next update of the devkit gets released.--Cadaeib (talk) 19:41, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Volcano Habitat information[]

There is a discrepancy between the habitat information for the Volcano. On this page it states "very uncommon" while on the Volcano page the Gigantosaurus is listed as "rare".
Since I am having troubles distinguishing between the categories "very uncommon" and "rare", I don't feel confident about adjusting this issue.
-- Gaddhi (talk) 10:55, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi, rare is just a bit rarer than very uncommon. I haven't been in this area for long, so just fix the entry you think is less correct. There are currently no hard numbers for the rarity.--Cadaeib (talk) 11:45, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
ok, will do. -- Gaddhi (talk) 10:05, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

How to cage a wild Giga[]

You can see it in this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWp6kFwGZQo 217.234.144.169 10:42, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Rage Mode Ending[]

Nowhere in the article it is mentioned, if a tamed Giga can exit from rage mode or if it will stay indefinitely in rage mode. Can't test this but it would be an interesting aspect. -- Gaddhi (talk) 17:18, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Pronounciation[]

Concerning the edit [1], the Wikipedia page for Giganotosaurus lists the two former versions. This version now seems to be a mix of both versions.

Scorched Earth Spawn Location??![]

I noticed that at some point someone added a Scorched Earth tab saying the Giganotosaurus is a bery rare spawn in the mountain reigon, I believe this was a troll edit, as in all my hours of Scorched Earth i have NEVER seen a Giganotosaurus anywhere, and i spent quite a bit of time in the mountains too, because of that one cave. Another thing is when you go to the actual page for Scorched Earth dino spawn locations, it does not have the Giganotosaurus on the list of spawns. I believe the tab should be removed to avoid confusion, unless aomeone can prove me wrong and give physical proof. Scrubbanubnub (talk) 04:40, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Done. --Flachdachs (talk) 05:58, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Tek Variant[]

Could someone who knows how to edit the summon commands add the tek variant commmand: Admincheat summon bionicgigant_character_bp_c

Dino variants introduced in Genesis will be added at a little later date to the articles. Also please sign your message next time with ~~~~. Alexrmski (talk) 17:30, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

R-Giga Spawn Locations (all 8 of them)[]

R-Giga Spawns - Genesis Part 2

Going to change Experimental Giganotosaurus back into it's own page[]

Not sure why it was deleted but I'm going to make it again, the Iceworm Queen and Lava Elemental both have separate pages and I think boss type creatures such as this should have their own pages to discuss the lore as well as strategies as it just clogs up the Giganotosaurus page and just flat out doesn't work in its current format, I'll also eventually work on the Macro Summoner, Mek Knight and both the Spirit Direbear and Spirit Direwolf pages as well.
