Basic Info[edit | edit source]

Dossier[edit | edit source]

This dossier section is intended to be an exact copy of what the survivor Helena, the author of the dossiers has written. There may be some discrepancies between this text and the in-game creatures.

NoteHelena.png
Wild

The Yutyrannus saevus is believed to be related to the Tyrannosaurus rex, but it is noticeably different upon first glance. Feathered creatures are not necessarily viewed as dangerous predators in the same light as other theropods. However, the Yutyrannus strikes fear into even the Island's most skilled hunters.

There are few wild predators that are able to pack-hunt alongside the generally hostile Carnotaurus, like the Yutyrannus does, with such ease. It is also the only creature I've seen to consistently induce a state of panic in opponents with its roar. Upon hearing it, most creatures in the area will flee for safety.

Domesticated

A domesticated Yutyrannus can be a powerful offensive or defensive addition to war parties. With its mighty roar, it can induce fear in opposing creatures. Meanwhile, Yutyrannus can be trained to develop a confidence-boosting Battle-Cry which counteracts enemy attempts to induce fear, while also bolstering the resolve of allies, and may even draw wild Carnotaurus to its aid. These unique "leadership" qualities make the Yutyrannus a versatile, and at times, a necessary creature to have on your side during large-scale confrontations!

~ Helena

Behavior[edit | edit source]

The Yutyrannus is highly aggressive, killing anything it comes across excluding its unusual pack of Carnos. Approach with caution, as the Yutyrannus has a roar ability that can make any tamed mount smaller in size than it becomes unsettled and bolt, regardless of commands, often taking the mounted rider with it.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Yutyrannus is a large carnivorous dinosaur possessing a long head with a low ridge across its snout and a pair of horns above its eyes. Its body is covered in thick downy feathers and unlike its larger relative, the Rex, it has long arms with three clawed fingers.

Color Scheme and Regions

This section displays the Yutyrannus's natural colors and regions. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Yutyrannus. The colored squares shown underneath each region's description are the colors that the Yutyrannus will randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme. Hover your cursor over a color to display its name and ID.

Server admins can use this region information in the Console Command "cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID>".
For example, "cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6" would color the Yutyrannus's "main body" magenta.

Wild Stats Level-up

Type in values of a wild creature to see on which stats it's emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very good for breeding. If you have already tamed your creature you can try to recover the breeding-stats with an external tool.[1]

Yutyrannus
The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, see here for alternatives: Apps

Note that after the creature is tamed it gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it hard to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, so this tool is only for wild ones, but gives a first impression, how well the stats are distributed.

Combat[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

Never engage the Yutyrannus head on. Its roar will cause all dinos, except for Gigas, Rexs, Spinos, Wyverns, Alpha Predators, Water Creatures, and Brontos, tamed or untamed to run away from it, even if being ridden. Player movement speed needs to be at least 200% point to outrun it.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

Cliffs- Use a fast mount that can outrun the Yutyrannus. Get the Yutyrannus at the bottom of a steep cliff, get on top of the outcropping, and start shooting with your preferred Tranq.

Fliers- Use an argentavis or a quetzal to be high above the Yutyrannus and shoot it with your preferred tranq.

On Foot- Lure towards a wall (2 high) and tranq from other side. Yutyrannus has not been known to roar or crawl over.

Weaponry[edit | edit source]

Any long distance weapon.

Dangers[edit | edit source]

Roar ability will spawn in carno minions to fight for the creature as well as scare your dinos into an uncontrollable retreat. Also, many dinos will be near the Yutyrannus such as dire wolves, Carnos, etc. Bring protection dino's to keep it and you alive from these outside threats.

KO Strategy[edit | edit source]

Cliffs

Use a fast mount that can outrun the Yutyrannus to a steep cliff, get on top, and start shooting with your preferred Tranq.

Fliers

Use an argentavis or a quetzal to be high above the Yutyrannus and shoot it with your preferred tranq.

Tanky Dinos

Use dinos with lot of health to absorb damage.

Utility[edit | edit source]

Roles[edit | edit source]

Troop support: Yutyrannus' courage roar temporarily boosts the attack damage allied creatures inflict, and reduces incoming damage they take by 40% each. This can be very useful in massive battles or when fighting bosses.

Intimidation: The fear inducing roar of Yutyrannus also terrifies enemy creatures, even when mounted by a player. This leaves them weak to attack from other animals and players in the tribe. The affected dinos will receive a debuff increasing damage taken and reducing damage done by up to 50% each. At full fear, the terrified creature will flee and not respond to commands.

Fertilizer Gathering: Once a wild creature has reached the full fear effect, it will not only flee but it will also defecate in the process. The player is then free to dismount and gather the feces. Inducing fear on a group of weak creatures such as dilos can easily yield 5-10 feces.

Hunting: Good damage output and the ability to make wild Carnos fight on your side, when used the boosting roar on them, makes the Yutyrannus one of the best prey hunter and versatile mount in the game. Also quite good knockback from the roar and the biting makes you unable to hit for small to mid-size creatures.

For information pertaining specifically to the real-world Yutyrannus, see the relevant Wikipedia article

  • Dino Dossier revealed on 04/10/2017.[2]
  • Yutyrannus Saevus roughly translates into "Savage Feathered Tyrant."
  • The dossier notes that Yutyrannus is one of the few creatures that can hunt alongside Carnotaurus with ease. It's roar ability summons Carnotaurus in the wild.
  • Yutyrannus's intimidating roar also work on wild or enemy Yutyrannus.
  • Trailer's Yutyrannus's roar is different compared to the game.
  • Might be an bug, if you knock an creatures unconscious while the creature is feared by your Yutyrannus, after you tame it, your new creature will attack your Yutyrannus all the time.
  • Sometimes Alpha Carno spawn near the Yutyrannus.
  • Yutyrannus's courage roar work on allied water creature.
  • The Carnotaurus army sometimes betray the Yutyrannus.
  • An Alpha Carno can't hurt a wild Yutyrannus while attacking it
