The Adobe Pillar is a Structure in the Scorched Earth-DLC of ARK: Survival Evolved.

A pillar is a stackable form of a foundation, which is used for building structures.

Construction[edit | edit source]

The Adobe Pillar can be placed on even or slightly uneven ground, or on the top or bottom of foundations, ceilings, or other pillars. Once the first Adobe Pillar is placed, subsequent pillars can snap into place on the top or bottom of the first one, provided there is adequate room to do so.

A pillar or series of pillars with the bottom touching the ground and a ceiling on top will function as a foundation, providing support and allowing structures to be built on top of it.

Support[edit | edit source]

Pillars provides sufficient support to allow a structure built on top of it to extend up to 2 ceilings in any direction on the x and y-axis, and up to 1 ceiling diagonally, not counting the center ceiling. However, the ceilings on the far end will not support walls.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • If a pillar is destroyed, any building pieces that rely on it for support will be destroyed as well. If it was destroyed via the demolish option, no resources will be refunded for these extra building pieces.
  • Pillars are commonly used to build bridges. This is done by placing a normal foundation at the start, building 2 ceilings out, adding pillars under the second ceiling until they reach the ground, and then repeating the process.
  • In order for a pillar to count as providing support to an area, it must be snapped onto the structure it is attempting to support, not simply be placed underneath it. It is therefore necessary to build from top to bottom when attempting to add support to a pre-existing structure.
  • Ladders can be placed on the pillars, allowing for tall, thin towers.
  • When snapped to an existing ceiling, pillars will stick through it. This can be avoided by simply adding another ceiling layer on top of all pillars. The lower ceiling pieces can then be demolished.
