The King Titan Arena, summoned through the King Titan Terminal.

The King Titan is one of the Creatures and one of four Titans in the Extinction DLC of ARK: Survival Evolved.

Basic Info[]

Guardian Hologram[]

link=Dossiers #Manuals

Though he could scatter his foes with a single charge, roar or swipe of his tail, and call fire down from the sky itself, In the end you banished the King of Shadows. No matter how many corrupted beasts he summoned or how many weapons he rendered useless, he could not snuff you out - for you fought with the hopes of the human race on your shoulders, and its tenacity at your back.

link=Dossiers #Manuals

Even at his most powerful, fully augmented by the Element that spawned him, you pulled the King of Shadows down from his throne. Thanks to your skill and unrelenting courage, humanity may yet have a future.

Behavior[]

The best way to describe his behavior is "Kill everything in sight" and saying "everything" is not an exaggeration. Adding to its sheer power as the mechanized Alpha King Titan, it is considered to be an "Omega Level" threat.

Appearance[]

The King Titan is approximately 156.8 meters tall and 266.1 meters long, easily making it the largest creature ever introduced into ARK, towering over even the other titans.

The King Titan has thick scaly skin and stands in a hunched position. It has a layer of mountain sized dorsal spikes sprouting in a curved formation on its back. It has two large blue eyes set at the front of its head along with a nose similar to that of a human skull. Several sharp teeth litter the gums of its mouth. A spiky sail runs down its back to its crocodilian tail. Each hand has four fingers with sharp claws. Just like most Extinction creatures, it has corruption running down its body.

The King Titan on Alpha difficulty has the same outline as its lower tier versions, but it is completely made of and armored with Element since its design is alike the Element spikes surrounding the arena.

In lore[]

The King Titan is the most powerful creature and Titan in the lore. It led an army of Titans and Corrupted Creatures, causing the apocalypse which nearly wiped out all life on the planet. Due to this, humanity built the Arks and created the Guardians and Overseers to help humanity become stronger and launched them into space in hopes that one day they can reclaim the earth.

When Helena has seen and gained knowledge through her Homo Deus prism, the Element saw her as a dangerous threat to its growth since it sent the King Titan to kill her and the survivors she was with, chasing them with the corrupted until the survivors were figuratively backed into a corner. In their brief battle, it killed every survivor except Mei Yin who it was toying with and Helena was in the background, hesitating if she should insert the prism in her implant. When the King Titan was about to seal the group's fate by killing Mei Yin, Helena rammed the prism in. The King Titan and the corrupted horde became disoriented, giving Mei Yin a chance to save a fading Helena, the now only hope for the malfunctioning ARKs and the life they harbor. Later, the King Titan resurfaced to face Mei Yin and Diana in their Mega Mek but was brutally defeated. Because of this and its first defeat against the Mega Mek, the King Titan has made two mistakes that would result in its defeat and element's loss of control over Earth.

Color Scheme and Regions[]

X mark

The King Titan always spawns with the same color scheme and has no color regions.

This means it is currently impossible to make alterations to the King Titan's colors.

Combat[]

Gamma and Beta[]

The Ice Titan can solo both the gamma and beta king titan. The forest titan does not have the 10x damage bonus against corrupted creatures, making it a lengthier battle, however, It can also deal full damage to the King Titan while he is kneeling, unlike most creatures and weapons.

Alpha[]

The M.O.M.I. (Extinction) can solo the alpha king titan, however there are rare cases when the Mega Mek Mega Mek can be pushed into a position whereby it gets stuck and unable to combat.

If the server you are playing on does not allow you to tame titans, you can try the guide below.

General[]

With various attacks from both the fireball down to calling meteors at specific locations which cause the Enflamed debuff, to put it simply, the strategies that you would normally use for other bosses and titans would not work for the King Titan. But with proper preparation, even the King of Shadows can be dethroned. Element suddenly spikes up from the ground around the arena and glow with a deep purple The battle begins when the King Titan sends out an enraged roar as the sky turns purple.

Strategy[]

No matter the strategy you use, you MUST keep his attention centered in the arena. This has very little leniency for his movements. Failure to do so will cause the titan to be brought back to the center and he will restore health.

As a general rule of thumb it would be advised to bring Medical Brews and Custom Consumables optimized for health gain in the event that you get caught in the fire left by meteor impacts.

The battle advances in back and forth phases between attacking the titan and defending element nodes that will spawn with 150,000 health. During the main battle phase keep an eye out for Corrupted Tumors alongside his other spawns. The tumors themselves have 15,000 HP and failing to destroy them will cause them to spawn a Corrupted Giganotosaurus which can further complicate this difficult fight. During the element node phase the King Titan will kneel down, taking 80% reduced damage and bombarding the area with occasional meteors mainly around himself. When the element node spawns you have one of two options:

  • Pull your army back from the King Titan to defend the element node. The element node will consist of 3 waves total; an initiation wave and then 2 main waves. Corrupted creature levels are generally between 200-300 on gamma and can reach beyond level 500 on Alpha. Failure to defend the main element node will restore some health to the King Titan, prolonging the fight. The battle will turn back to the main phase after the result of defending the element node.
  • If your damage is very high and you have poor element node defenders (Gigas for example are subpar due to their massive collateral damage), keep focusing the titan, even through his massive damage reduction of about 80%. Once you hit a certain threshold of damage, the element node will detonate and the King Titan will blast everything away from him. Beware the constant meteor showers around him during this. Afterwards the fight goes back to the main phase.

Recommended Tames[]

  • Having an Ice Titan Ice Titan can be useful for combat against the King Titan as a constant aggressor easily capable of recovering from the King Titan's knockback attack thanks to its jumping ability and thanks to the platform saddle it can have turrets placed on it as well.
  • The Forest Titan Forest Titan Is also very effective at fighting against the King Titan by helping tank damage due to it being the most durable of the 3 tameable titans as well as it's ability to block. It can also deal full damage to the King Titan while he is kneeling, unlike most creatures and weapons.
  • Finally the Desert Titan Desert Titan is useful at barraging the King Titan with lightning and the Flock it summons and due to its platform saddle it can easily make for an effective battleship.
  • Having a Mek Mek will always be effective when fighting any Titans due to their strong stats and damage and their ability to use attachments.
  • If playing with multiple players having at least one person control a Scout Scout can also be useful due to their ability to heal the Mek Mek.
  • As always having a Yutyrannus Yutyrannus is always advised due to its courage roar and the fact that since the Titans are world bosses they can use the fear roar to scare away creatures attempting to interrupt the fight.
  • Due to the Titans being world bosses, Giganotosaurus Giganotosaurus Rushing can be very effective due to their powerful stats so long as the player keeps their distance. However they are best deployed for burst damage early in the fight as they can not withstand the sheer damage that the King Titan deals.
  • Using a Snow Owl Snow Owl can be useful due to its ability to heal allies and fly.
  • Alternatively if you’re willing to put up with micromanaging a couple of Daeodon Daeodon could be used instead of the Snow Owl.
  • Having a couple of Velonasaur Velonasaur can also be useful as a background support creature firing at the Corrupted Creatures.
  • Having a few Managarmr Managarmr can be a effective strategy against the Corrupted Creatures due to their breath attack and quick speed.
  • The Quetzal Quetzal are also effective as skyships thanks to their platform saddles, though if they take any hits from the King Titan it's likely that any structures on it are as good as gone.
  • The Mega Mek Mega Mek is only usable during the alpha King Titan.
  • Having a few Rock Elemental Rock Elemental would not hurt to tank damage and deal with Corrupted Creatures. This is also useful thanks to the fact that they take 50% less damage from physical attacks.
  • For the Brontosaurus Brontosaurus, one can be useful as a platform base for supplying food if the fight against the King Titan takes too long. Adding troughs on the saddle can help feed other tames. But it can be used as a background tame like the Desert Titan.
  • Fire Wyvern Fire Wyverns are useful at killing corrupted creatures and generally being all around strong tames.
  • Lightning Wyvern Lightning Wyverns lightning breath is harder to aim but strong and due to the king titans size makes it great for a damage dealer against the king titan.
  • Poison Wyvern Poison Wyverns are useful due to their breath attack being AoE they can easily kill corrupted creatures that are overrunning your other tames.
  • Ice Wyvern Ice Wyverns are useful due to their breath keeping the corrupted creatures at bay slowing them down while your other tames attack the king titan.
  • Blood Crystal Wyvern Blood Crystal Wyvern should be used to drain King Titans health and regenerating its health by the same attack.
  • DodoRex DodoRex or 2 during Turkey Trial can easily kill the King Titan
  • Zomdodo Zomdodos can be useful due to small size and good stats to protect shielded MEKs and DodoRex. Can be set out for extra damage or Element Vein protection during Element Vein phase.
  • Magmasaur Magmasaur is recommended to take meteor damage due to being immune to fire. Also good for blowing up creatures.
  • Phoenix Phoenix with good stats may be better than a Magmasaur due to ability to fly and heal from the meteors, but it won't protect the rider from fire so bring some tek canteens.

Overall, players must bring all of their strongest creatures, any endgame tames, and the titans if they want to bring the King Titan down.

Dangers[]

  • The meteors spawned by the King Titan can harm any tame (this includes Mek Meks and any flying tame that happens to be within the radius), inflicting Enflamed debuff; this debuff also affects the survivor if they are not in a Mek and riding another creature. Unless the survivor is in a Mega Mek Mega Mek, it is advised to get out of the lava crater formed by it as it will grant a quick and swift death. It should also be noted that corrupted creatures are vulnerable to the Enflamed debuff from these meteors as well. You can try using this to your advantage.
  • These meteors, as well as the purple fire balls the King Titan spits, can hurt mounted players directly, leading to a swift death. They can be avoided by moving out of the way in time.
  • The two moments when the King Titan wakes up from its downed state, players should have all of their tames that are attacking it to follow them in full retreat away from it as its ground fist bump can easily kill surrounding tames and tames that are on the rim of the arena will be flying away.
  • At certain points of the battle, it will start charging its fist up with power, which can potentially instantly kill any tamed creature around it once it’s fully charged and released. Swings from the Mega Mek Mega Mek or high DPS will interrupt its charging sequence, therefore cancelling the attack. It's important that all damage is focused onto the King Titan during this attack, otherwise you risk your whole army being deleted in one fell swoop. Meks can not use their modules during this attack as it will say the module is malfunctioning. Wherever players and tames are in the arena, away or close to the King Titan, everything in the arena are at risk of being killed If a piloted Mek is destroyed in this manner it will eject the player without harm to the player, though prepare for a hard landing unless you have either a Tek Chestpiece or Tek Boots equipped. The Titans and Mega Mek can withstand this attack
  • The King Titan is constantly spawning corrupted creatures including Corrupted Reaper Kings, especially if most of the players and other targets are far from him. Getting slowed down by the Reaper Kings could make it hard to dodge certain attacks.
  • Be aware that Titans Titans take 5x damage from the King Titan. It also has an attack that deals massive knockback and its attacks can stun tames.
  • On Alpha difficulty, the Meks and their attachments do a miniscule amount of damage against the King Titan. Roughly a 90% reduction. (not including the Mega Mek Mega Mek)
  • In general, everything involving the King Titan is a danger. Be prepared to lose several tames and possibly survivors in this fight.
  • On very rare occasions, a regular attack can immediately destroy the Mega Mek Mega Mek. This may be a bug.
  • The King Titans attacks deal not only inconceivable damage, but also adds on a stun debuff. Everything damaging the Titan always needs to be on the move to avoid getting hit.

Weakness[]

On Alpha difficulty, the Mega Mek Mega Mek can be summoned, making the fight easier. However, in other cases, it has no weakness, albeit Mek Mek's bonus damage against Titans. Also, some of the King Titan's attacks are very slow and can be reacted against.

  • The Mega Mek gets a smaller damage reduction when the King Titan is knocked down with only a 60% reduction while other creatures get an 80% damage reduction.
  • The Mega Mek's sword attack has a far longer range than the King Titan's attacks with the exception of its fireball.
  • The Mega Mek gives special buff to all creatures in arena so they can deal 4 times more damage to Alpha king titan. In other words, without the Mega Mek, Alpha King Titan takes only 25% damage from all attack source and makes him almost impossible to beat.
  • It is optional to have offensive Meks with M.R.L.M attachments due to its massive spread of the M.R.L.M rockets working exceptionally well against the King Titan since it is so massive and you only need to aim straight at it but players have to be at a certain distance from the titan to get the full effect. In single player, a single rocket hitting the King Titan can do 2880 damage and with sixteen rockets at once, potential damage could reach 46,080! The module obviously doesn't work when the Titan is charging its attack.

Notes/Trivia[]

  • The King Titan is the only Titan shown to be capable of powering himself and even changing his form to make himself more powerful.
  • The King Titan is the largest creature on Extinction.
  • The King Titan is different from other Titans as it is untameable and has Gamma, Beta, and Alpha difficulties.
  • In the lore, the King Titan is said to be a "central pillar of the poison's strength and influence," referring to the corruption. This implies that the King Titan is the consciousness that controls the Corrupted Creatures as a hivemind.
  • The King Titan is the only Titan/Boss:
    • that has only 2 different variations (alpha is a Mechanised variant of the King Titan) since the normal bosses have 3 and the other titans only have 1.
    • that requires previous difficulties of its trophy.
    • that has an additional ending cutscene sequence if defeated at Alpha difficulty.
  • The King Titan's internal name is King Kaiju. "Kaiju" is a Japanese word meaning "strange beast" and is commonly used to refer to large monsters from franchises such as the Pacific Rim franchise and more specifically the Godzilla Franchise as a common title for Godzilla is King of the Monsters, though in this case the King Titan is referred to, quite literally, the king of the Titans.
  • The King Titan, when forcetamed, will still attack nearby survivors and Creatures, even if it has been whistled Passive.
  • The King Titan Terminal is located at 3.5, 49.2 in the Forbidden Zone.
  • The King Titan is the final Titan and Boss of the Extinction DLC.
  • The King Titan's actual height is unknown, because in one of the Explorer notes, it says that he stands taller than Mountains. But considering the fact that it can be as tall as some of the mountains on the island, it may very well be the size of the colossal beast.
    • If you use the Forest Titan as an estimation then the King Titan is at least over 100 meters tall.
    • In fact cheat-spawned Rockwell (classic variant, not master controller/prime) is 5 metres taller than Alpha King Titan. Tested on the carno island.
    • They both stand as tall as a swamp castle of Rag.
  • The King Titan's dossier color is different from other boss dossiers (being orange for both types of dossier), like Rockwell Rockwell. However, unlike the Rockwell Rockwell dossier, it has additional text on it.
  • As your character gets uploaded during the ascension it is essential to store the Trophy in one of your tames, as it will be lost if it stays in the survivors inventory.
  • The Alpha King Titan is a reference to Mecha Godzilla.
  • The Admin Blink Rifle is unable to kill it with a single shot.

Lore[]

  • The King Titan is one of the two primary antagonists in ARK: Survival Evolved lore alongside Rockwell .
    • The King Titan is currently the only known Omega level threat in ARK (being a omega level threat likely indicates they have the power to cause the apocalypse similarly to how the King Titan and his army of Titans and Corruption did.)
    • The king titan is in a way "controlling" not only the corrupted creatures but also the other titans mainly because explorer notes say that "their brains are corrupted" and is visible on the element spots on the other titans in the game.
    • In the Story the Mega Mek Mega Mek fought against the normal King Titan King Titan however when fought it can only be used against the Alpha King Titan Alpha King Titan.
    • Despite the fact the King Titan seems to control every single corrupted creature INCLUDING the other Titans in Extinction it doesn't seem to be capable of controlling Rockwell Rockwell as Rockwell is very clearly shown to still have a mind of his own through the explorer notes.
      • This may possibly be because he fused with the Aberration Ark becoming a guardian/overseer. It is also possible that element leaves the King Titan and Rockwell to their own devices on how they spread element, showing how it will resort to more hiveminds to help expand its control. In the explorer notes, the One Who Waits or Homo Deus Helena, explains that the King Titan was a central pillar, not the only pillar, which acts as a nerve tract between the corrupted creatures and the Element hivemind. In Genesis: Part 1, Rockwell was showing similarities of being an Element nerve tract between the corrupted avatars/corrupted humans and the Element hivemind but he is still in control of himself.
      • Both Rockwell and the King Titan have vague similarities and differences:
        • In spreading Element, both the King Titan and Rockwell want to enforce their will onto the inhabitants of Earth.
        • They also want to be seen as a master and control both subservient humans and obedient dinosaurs alike.
        • Both use minions in an attempt to overwhelm their opponents but in Genesis: Part 1, Rockwell summons minions at a much faster rate and ramps the amount of minions he uses up to 11.
        • Both have their own unique minions.
          • The King Titan controls the Titans of Extinction.
          • Rockwell controls Summoners, Noglins, and Corrupted Survivors of Genesis: Part 2.
        • Both have boss-like creatures that act as their lieutenants.
          • King Titan
            • Ice Titan
            • Forest Titan
            • Desert Titan
          • Rockwell
            • Macro-Summoner
            • Experimental Giganotosaurus
            • Corrupted Master Controller
        • The King Titan values strength and force since it uses meteors, devastating attacks, and corrupted creatures for a simple surround tactic for overwhelming his opponents.
        • Rockwell, on the other hand, takes a calculating and cunning approach by using status effects such as paralysis to keep his opponents from fighting back.
        • They both have a weakness of being left defenceless after taking a certain threshold of damage while other bosses don't show that weakness.
        • Both had an indirect or direct interaction with Helena that lead her to become a Homo Deus.
          • Rockwell's fate gives Helena a reminder to not repeat the mistakes he made that lead to his twisted fate.
          • The King Titan pressured her to use the prism as a last resort in saving the survivors she is with on Extinction.
        • Both were on Mei Yin's revenge list for killing her friends. Rockwell killed Diana and the King Titan killed the remaining Futuristic survivors.
        • Both were defeated by a mek unit that was modified by Helena Walker/HLN-A.
          • The King Titan was defeated by the Mega Mek that was modified by Helena Walker to require one pilot for safe use.
          • Rockwell was defeated by an Exo-mek unit that had a laser attachment which HLN-A bought in the Colony Ship's shopping catalogue.
      • In the story the Mega Mek made a scar on the King Titans chest, but it is not visible on the gamma or beta King Titans.
      • In Diana Extinction explorer note #21, there is a slip of info on the top right of the note that describes the King Titan but most of the info is cut off due to the given screen. The second is based on interpretation.
        • "Hyperfaun... "arm... Apex Pred... New Apocalypt... The Mass and H...creature are like... seeing before, this... responsible for... and death of the...members of the...
        • "Hyperfauna; arm; Apex Predator of the New Apocalypse; The mass and height of this creature are like nothing I'm seeing before, this creature is responsible for both the apocalypse and the death of the members of the United Republic of Earth and the Terran Federation.
        • This transmission may be referring to the attack on the Omega Base Camp, where the other tek survivors were before the titans killed them. But it may also be a reference to the beginning of the corruption of element, when the element spawned the titans and corrupted earth with corruption and element itself.
