Blueprints are similar to Engrams which are learned through spending Engram Points, as they also enable the crafting of specific items but cost no engram points to use. Blueprints can be found in Beacons, Loot Crates, Deep Sea Loot Crates and Orbital Supply Drops.

Usage[edit | edit source]

To use a Blueprint, you have to obtain all the resources needed to craft the item listed in the blueprint itself, and then click on the Blueprint in your inventory or in the required workstation (e.g. Smithy.png Smithy, Fabricator.png Fabricator or Tek Replicator.png Tek Replicator) to craft it. Blueprints can be used an unlimited number of times at any level, except for the Fishing Rod.png Fishing Rod and all Element.png Tek blueprints only usable 3 times.

Blueprints essentially come in two different versions, 'structure' blueprints which are only for items without quality and directly imitate a learnable engram, they are very useful as the player doesn't have to spend engram points in order to craft the item, and instead can simply use the blueprint. However, they can not be used to unlock subsequent engrams. For example, to craft a Wooden Cage you still have to have the Wooden Foundation engram, not the blueprint. They are exclusively looted from Beacons and Fishing.

Blueprints with Item Quality which are only for Weapons, Tools, Armor, Shields and Saddles, give bonuses to the crafted item's stats and crafting xp rewarded but can cost significantly more materials. This will be noted on the Blueprint itself via its tool-tip. They are obtained from both Beacons and Loot Crates with higher quality ones often coming from higher level crates, acting as a unique reward for exploration with their crafted items offering potentially extreme advantages (along with powerful items being able to be given to allies or easily replaced when lost), particularly in combat, to players and creatures.

Item Quality[edit | edit source]

Items which use stats, namely Melee Damage, Durability, Armor, Hypothermic Insulation and Hyperthermic Insulation, have Item Quality, with higher quality items having better overall stats (though lower quality items may be randomly superior in an individual stat). Items with improved quality can be obtained from beacons, loot crates, and other forms of loot drops (such as from killing predators), while blueprints of higher quality items are obtainable only from beacons and loot crates. Items with higher quality can cost substantially more than primitive versions.

Notes/Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • You can stock blueprints on a Bookshelf.png Bookshelf.
  • Some Blueprints, particularly Platform Saddles of Mastercraft/Ascendant Quality have such a high crafting requirement that their materials do not fit in either a Smithy.png Smithy nor within the weight requirement of a Giant Beaver.png Castoroides' inventory and thus couldn't be crafted, even on an Official server, until the arrival of the Tek Replicator.png Tek Replicator.
  • (Almost) all items can be spawned as their Blueprints using the Console Commands to spawn an item, making sure the final number is 1.

will give you a Simple Pistol BP, and

will give you 2 different Simple Pistol BPs of very high quality.

Version History[edit | edit source]

Version Changes
  • Increased the upper limit on the Damage and Armor values by 17.5%. This is not applied retroactively to previously clamped blueprints, which remain at the previous cap.
  • Implemented an upper limit on the Damage and Armor values across all weapons, armor and saddles (excepting Shields). This affects all existing blueprints. Quality, durability, thermals and crafting cost remain unaffected.
  • Removed Rocket Launcher.png Rocket Launcher qualities. No more variance in damage, quality or durability.
