The Carno Egg is one of the Dinosaur Eggs in ARK: Survival Evolved.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Carno Eggs are randomly dropped by Carnotaurus.png Carnos. They can be eaten or used to make Regular Kibble.png Regular Kibbles for taming Anglerfish.png Anglerfish, Ankylosaurus.png Ankylosaurus, Baryonyx.png Baryonyx, Beelzebufo.png Beelzebufo, Carbonemys.png Carbonemys, Carnotaurus.png Carnotaurus, Dimetrodon.png Dimetrodon, Diplodocus.png Diplodocus, Doedicurus.png Doedicurus, Gigantopithecus.png Gigantopithecus, Ichthyornis.png Ichthyornis, Kaprosuchus.png Kaprosuchus, Kentrosaurus.png Kentrosaurus, Lymantria.png Lymantria, Pelagornis.png Pelagornis, Pteranodon.png Pteranodon, Scorpion.png Pulmonoscorpius, Purlovia.png Purlovia, Sabertooth.png Sabertooth, Sarco.png Sarco, Stegosaurus.png Stegosaurus, Terror Bird.png Terror Bird, Thorny Dragon.png Thorny Dragon, and Velonasaur.png Velonasaur. On ARK: Survival Evolved Mobile, they can be used to make Kibble (Mobile).png Kibble (Carno Egg) for taming Trikes, Direwolves and Direbears.

After two Carnotaurus.png Carnos mate, the resulting egg can be hatched and become a baby Carnotaurus.png Carno. A Player picking one up in the presence of nearby Carnotaurus.png Carnos (excluding domesticated ones) will cause them to become hostile and attack the Player.

Collecting[edit | edit source]

Obtaining a wild Carno Egg can be rather difficult without preparation. A Carno is swift enough that a player on foot will have trouble escaping, and is strong enough to overpower most players as well. A Carno can also headbutt players and send them backwards a few meters, potentially off of a cliff or ledge. Because of these abilities, fleeing seems to be a wise option. An aerial mount is an excellent choice since they can quickly get out of range of a Carno. An aquatic mount is also a good choice since Carnos are poor swimmers, but is less versatile since Carnos tend to be further inland. Land-based mounts come down to what is faster than a Carno. A Raptor is a good choice, since they sprint very quickly and can jump. Sabertooths are similar in this regard.

If fleeing is not an option, then a player on flat ground with armor and an excellent melee weapon or a lot of firepower has a decent chance against low-to-moderate level Carnos, since they don't have a very high amount of health. If engaging a Carno on foot, then some backup will be extremely helpful, as the headbutt ability doesn't fling most other creatures as far as it does players. A couple of high level Raptors or creatures similar to that size can provide a distraction and help deal quick damage. If a player is fortunate enough to have a Rex or Spino available, then their mount can outright kill a Carno, especially with backup.

Super Fertilized Egg (Mobile)[edit source]

Logo Mobile.svg This section is about a feature exclusively available on Mobile

The Super Fertilized Carno Egg is a type of Dinosaur Egg.png Egg exclusive to ARK: Survival Evolved Mobile.

A Super Fertilized Carno Egg can be obtained after a female Carnotaurus.png Carno with the proper Pheromone applied has laid an egg. It will hatch quicker than a normal Dinosaur Egg.png Fertilized Egg and the baby will have better stats when the egg has hatched.

A Super Fertilized Carno Egg can also be used to make Super Kibble (Mobile).png Super Kibble which will tame creatures faster and with more taming effectiveness.
