Combat[]

General[]

The Elder Malin is a useful mid to late game tame. It's fast and deals a lot of (torpor) damage (most likely kills before knocking anything out) with its buck attack so you can tame other creatures.

Strategy[]

Elder Malin are provokable creatures that, when startled, will not to flee (like your regular Equus would), but will summon around 20 (powerfull) Jerboa minions and then run away, hitting you if you stand in its way. Bolas combined with any kind of ranged/short range weapon are effective at stopping and killing them along with strong tames that have a large area of effect, as long as you can stay behind or next to it, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF IT.

Weaponry[]

Bolas and a high tier pike, ranged weapon or strong tame are effective against the Elder Malin.

Dangers[]

The Elder Malin itself shouldn't be that much of a threat, since you can just bola and kill them if you do it right. It's Jerboa Minions are your biggest worries, as you may be focusing on killing/taming the Elder Malin, these Jerboas will group up on you, and will kill you if you don't have a high health tame, since they do a lot of damage but do not have good health. If you attempt at taming it, you have to be extra carefull around killing thes Jerboas, as you probably don't want to kill the Elder Malin. The Elder Malin may pose a threat in PVP as it can quickly transport your enemy, deal torpor to you or your tame, possibly knocking you out, but because of its high damage, it will probably kill you rather than knock you out, and, last but not least: it's Jerboa summon ability is not lost after it is tamed, so your enemy always has a small army ready to fight.

Weakness[]

Strong weaponry or creatures should be able to kill an Elder Malin without much trouble - provided you can maintain the stragegy of staying next or behind after you bola it. It also has a high but not impossible torpor stat, so you may be able to knock it out if you do it right.

Taming[]

Strategy[]

Elder Malin are provokable creatures that, when startled, will not to flee (like your regular Equus would), but will summon around 20 (powerfull) Jerboa minions and then run away, hitting you if you stand in its way. Bolas combined with any kind of ranged/short range weapon are effective at stopping and killing them along with strong tames that have a large area of effect and deal torpor damage, like a pulmonoscorpius or toxic/noxious creature, as long as you can stay behind or next to it, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF IT. It has a high but not impossible torpor stat, so you may be able to knock it out if you do it right.

Step 1: try to bola it from a distance (bringing more than 20 bolas is advisable), if done right, the Elder Malin won't have noticed you until you have it in a bola. When this happens, it will do a little dance and summon around 20 Jerboa Minions, now you have to get on a strong (noxious or toxic) tame to kill these, if you do not have a noxious or toxic creature, then keep you distance while killing the Jerboas.

Step 2: after killing the minions, you can now start to knock it out, since it has a pretty high torpor, a lot of patience and attention is required, since you will have to go through step one a couple of times.

Step 3: once you have finally got it knocked out, you may want to build a small trap around it (just in case) and put the taming food in its inventory. Using a couple of tame helpers and narcotics is also advised.
