The Plant Species Y Trap is an item in the Scorched Earth-DLC of ARK: Survival Evolved.
It can be obtained by growing Plant Species Y. Once fully grown, the plant will produce Plant Species Y Traps.
Usage[edit | edit source]
The trap works similar to a Bear Trap, tangling players and small to medium-sized creatures that step on them. When a creature gets trapped, durability depletes at a rate of ~3 units per second. A total durability of 100 means it immobilizes the targets for a shorter period of time than the Bear Trap does. However, it is almost completely invisible when placed on the ground, which means it can't be spotted as easy as the Bear Trap.

Notes[edit | edit source]
- Plant Species Y Traps have a spoil timer.
- The spoil timer sort of counts down when the trap is placed, with the trap slowly losing health after placed.
- Produces Plant Species Y Traps like a regular vegetable (e.g. Savoroot seed produces Savoroot)
- You can find a blueprint for Plant Species Y Traps in loot drops but the blueprint has no crafting requirements and cannot be crafted
- Some dinos that normally get trapped by this, can occasionally decide to attack the hidden plant, killing it, in the ground, before they get trapped.
- Plant Species Y Traps can be destroyed after and before being triggered by shooting fire arrows at their center to remove the trap instead of waiting out the full duration of the trap. Also knocking out a player or dinosaur that is trapped inside a Plant Species Y Trap can instantly kill and remove themselves from the trap by knocking that trapped thing out.
