The Refining Forge is a structure in ARK: Survival Evolved that is used to refine Metal.png Metal into Metal Ingot.png Metal Ingot and Oil.png Oil into Gasoline.png Gasoline.

Usage[edit | edit source]

To use the Refining Forge, one needs to put either Thatch.png Thatch, Wood.png Wood, Sparkpowder.png Sparkpowder or Angler Gel.png Angler Gel inside. See table below for more information.

Once the fuel and refining materials are inside the forge, you Light the fire to begin refining. Durations for the fuel and the refining materials are given in the tables below.

To make the most efficient use of fuel, the amount of refining materials and fuel should be balanced to not waste fuel once the refining is complete.

For common examples:

Can exactly smelt:

Fuel[edit | edit source]

Each fuel will burn for a different amount time. The table below shows how long each fuel will burn and what a single piece of fuel can theoretically refine (Minimum amounts of ingredients are given in the Refining section).

Each Fuel Burn Time Metal.png Metal Oil.png Oil
Thatch.png Thatch 7.5s 0.75 1.5
Wood.png Wood 30s 3 6
Sparkpowder.png Sparkpowder 1m 6 12
Angler Gel.png Angler Gel 4m 24 48

Each fuel stacks to a maximum of 100. The table below shows how long one stack of each fuel will burn and how much that is able to refine.

Stack of Fuel (x100) Burn Time Metal.png Metal Oil.png Oil
Thatch.png Thatch 12m 30s 75 150
Wood.png Wood 50m 300 600
Sparkpowder.png Sparkpowder 1h 40m 600 1200
Angler Gel.png Angler Gel 6h 40m 2400 4800

An excellent offline calculator is available for automating these calculations, or you can use the following online calculator.

Refining[edit | edit source]

Each resource takes a different amount time to refine. The following table gives the duration to refine each resource for different amounts of ingredients
