Overview[edit | edit source]

Spoiled Meat is a food item in Ark: Survival Evolved. It can be created by letting Raw Meat.png Raw Meat, Cooked Meat.png Cooked Meat, Raw Prime Meat.png Raw Prime Meat, Cooked Prime Meat.png Cooked Prime Meat, Raw Fish Meat.png Raw Fish Meat, Cooked Fish Meat.png Cooked Fish Meat, Raw Prime Fish Meat.png Raw Prime Fish Meat, Cooked Prime Fish Meat.png Cooked Prime Fish Meat, Raw Mutton.png Raw Mutton, Cooked Lamb Chop.png Cooked Lamb Chop, or any Cooked Meat Jerky.png Jerky spoil. Spoiled meat can also spoil, at which point the item will disappear from the player's inventory.

Uses[edit | edit source]

As a food item, Spoiled Meat is the very last resort; eating it will restore 3.5 points of Food.png Food, but decrease Health.png Health by 12.5 points. Because of this, Spoiled Meat is not initially worth much to the player.

However, it is a good idea to keep some lying around in a Storage Box.png Storage Box, because it has several important uses later on. For example, one Spoiled Meat can be combined with 5 × Narcoberry.png Narcoberries in the Mortar And Pestle.png Mortar and Pestle to craft Narcotic.png Narcotic, which is an essential tool for taming.

Spoiled Meat also is the preferred food of the Scorpion.png Scorpion, Spider.png Spider, Arthropluera.png Arthropluera, Vulture.png Vulture, and Karkinos.png Karkinos. Feeding Spoiled Meat to them will tame it more quickly than feeding it with Raw Meat.png Raw Meat would while refilling the same 50 food points.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The spoil timer for each variant of meat (Raw Meat, Cooked Meat, and so on) will only apply to one piece of meat at a time in a stack. This means that a full stack of 20 meat in an inventory will decay at a much slower rate than 20 individual meat items would.
  • You can separate your meat stack by holding down ⇧ Shift or Ctrl (PC), Controls (Xbox) and dragging it into another slot. This will create a new slot for your meat, and will increase the amount of spoiled meat received per time. You can continue splitting the stacks until your inventory is full.
