The Tropeognathus Saddle is a Saddle in ARK: Survival Evolved.

Overview[edit | edit source]

The Tropeognathus saddle is an item that will come along with the Tropeognathus in the ARK: Crystal Isles DLC. Unlike all other non-Tek saddles in the game, this saddle comes equipped with weaponry in the form of a flak cannon mounted on its back, and a jet engine on the rear.

When mounted, the Jet can be activated which will require Gasoline to be placed into the Tropeo's inventory. Once the jet has been activated, it has 3 different speed settings which consume more gasoline with their scaling speed. During the Jet's duration, the Tropeo can also perform a barrel-roll maneuver to evade attackers or to rapidly change direction mid-flight.

As long as the Jet is activated, the flak cannon can be activated as well. It can only be used when the jet is on and will automatically turn back off when the jet turns off. The flak cannon uses Grenade as ammo and deals 450 damage against flyers on direct hit, which must be placed in the Tropeo's inventory.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The armor does actually NOT scale with Blueprint quality, but the damage dealt by the flak cannon does. The damage seems to cap at 500% damage on single player, which means it deals a maximum of 2,250 damage on direct hits. The damage cap on official server appears to be 369.3%, which means it deals a maximum of roughly 1,662 damage on direct hits.
  • High-quality saddles, both by blueprint and item, can be found in deep sea loot crates (or the desert crates on Ragnarok.) They can also be found as Genesis mission rewards.
  • When used with the jet, the speed bypasses the sped up flying speed of both Wyvern and Pteranodon, even Crystal Wyvern, its speed is on par with Griffin.
  • The Tropeognathus Saddle is the first saddle to be craftable in a Fabricator.
